Our ethos is founded on the belief that Australia needs to achieve higher building standards. At Jarrod Olsen & Co we lead by example by designing and building our own developments to meet strict international design and building criteria. Our luxury residential development in Bowral is being designed and built to meet the International Passive House Certification Standard. Due for completion in the first quarter of 2020, it has the best of both worlds being a stylish new modern home centrally located in a beautiful established area of Bowral.

Jarrod Olsen, Southern Highlands sustainable builder

Jarrod Olsen & Co are members of the Australian Passive House Association, and Jarrod underwent his Passive House tradesperson course in 2017. The Passive House principles/methodology is underpinned by five key components relating to how a house is designed and built;

  • Thermal insulation
  • High-performance windows and doors
  • Elimination of thermal bridges
  • Air-tightness
  • Heat recovery ventilation

Once a house has been designed and built to the Passive House Standard it can also be tested and verified through a certification process, which ultimately gives the house the seal of quality approval. In essence, a house built to this standard gives you a very high performing building envelope and the most comfortable and healthy living environment for the lifetime of the building by using minimal additional technology.

Investing in a Passive House circumvents the initial expense of installing heating and cooling systems and reduces energy costs in the long term. A house built to the Passive House Standard is very energy efficient and sustainable, but the biggest benefit to the home owner is the comfort of the home. Once you have discovered the comfort of living in a Passive House, you will not want anything else.
